Newly-crowned Olympic 10,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei won’t defend his 5,000m title in Paris, he introduced on Instagram Tuesday. “I am so pleased with having received Olympic gold within the 10,000m,” stated Cheptegei, who received silver within the occasion within the Tokyo Video games. “So proud for Uganda. After the world junior 10,000m title, thrice the world 10,000m titles, the world 10,000m document, this gold medal in an Olympic document time completes my assortment.
“After discussing with my crew, we have determined it is best to not compete within the 5,000m.”
Heats for the 5,000m are scheduled for Wednesday, with the ultimate slated for Saturday.
