Congress requires ‘forceful steps’ to protect Bangladesh minorities | India Information

NEW DELHI: Congress on Saturday expressed concern over experiences of focused assaults on minorities and their locations of worship in Bangladesh. This comes a day after BJP accused opposition events of being mum on the “atrocities” towards Hindus within the neighbouring nation.
Congress’s common secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh stated in a put up on X that “whereas noting that there have been influential voices inside Bangladesh calling for the preservation of the nation’s multi-religious heritage, the Congress expresses its concern at experiences of focused assaults on minorities there and their properties and locations of worship.”
“Congress hopes that the interim govt in Bangladesh will take forceful steps to instil confidence in minority communities and be certain that they proceed to steer their lives in an environment of safety, dignity and concord,” Ramesh added.
BJP had on Friday criticised opposition events, alleging that their “silence” on the situation of Hindus and different minority communities in Bangladesh is unlucky.
