DU Admission 2024 Delayed: CUET-UG 2024 Result Delay Impacts Start Date

New Delhi, July 7, 2024 – The Delhi University (DU) admission cycle for 2024 faces a significant delay due to pending results of the undergraduate Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG). University officials estimate that the new academic session may begin only by the second week of September, pushing it back by approximately six weeks or more1.

The CUET-UG 2024, a single-window test for admissions to most undergraduate programs across 46 central universities, including DU, was conducted in hybrid mode from May 15 to 24. However, the provisional answer key has not been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), leading to the delay. NTA officials attribute this delay to recent controversies surrounding other exams like NEET-UG and UGC-NET1.

DU’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal for undergraduate admissions opened for the first phase of registrations on May 28. Postgraduate admissions have already begun as scheduled. However, the second phase of undergraduate admissions will commence only after the CUET-UG results are declared1.

The impact of this delay extends beyond the admission process. If the first semester starts in September, semester exams may be pushed to late December or January. Colleges will face space constraints and overlapping exam schedules, affecting subsequent semesters as well. DU officials emphasize the need to fill seats across all colleges under DU while minimizing delays1.

DU offers approximately 71,000 seats across 69 colleges, providing a wide range of undergraduate programs and BA (programme) combinations. As the university awaits the CUET-UG results, candidates in the second phase of admission will align their Class XII subjects with the CUET-UG subjects to determine seat allocation preferences. The allocation process involves accepting the allocated seat, followed by eligibility verification and document submission at the respective college. DU will publish details of vacant seats after each allocation round, allowing candidates to make informed choices1.

In summary, aspiring DU students should stay informed about the revised schedule, prepare their documents, and be ready for the next steps in their academic journey. The university aims to navigate these challenges while ensuring a fair and efficient admission process
