This Uttarakhand faculty bars married lady’s entry to ‘save its atmosphere’

ALMORA: A 19-year-old pupil of sophistication XI, was denied permission to attend courses at an inter faculty in Almora after her marriage, with the varsity citing “insurance policies towards married college students” for the choice.
The college authorities mentioned “permitting a married lady to take a seat within the classroom would disrupt the varsity’s atmosphere” and instructed that she proceed her training privately.
Simran, a resident of Niyaz Ganj space, had been finding out in Anand Singh Authorities Women’ Inter School since class 8. After her wedding ceremony on July 28, when she returned to highschool, she was not allowed to take a seat within the classroom. Regardless of repeated pleas by her household, the varsity administration remained steadfast in its choice.
College principal Vijaya Pant, when queried by TOI, mentioned, “It’s the primary time {that a} married pupil needs to attend courses. The college’s laws don’t allow admission of married college students since it could have an effect on different college students. Nonetheless, after contemplating her request, we advised her that if larger authorities grant permission, she could be allowed to attend courses.”
Simran wrote a letter to the chief training officer of Almora, Amba Balodi, on August 6. In her letter, she highlighted “the contradiction between the govt.’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme and her present predicament of being denied training”. When TOI contacted Balodi, she acknowledged there was no rule that prevented a married pupil from attending courses.
